Applications for the 2016-2017 school year are still being accepted. We do not admit any students after Spring Break or any 8th grade students after Winter Break each year. If there is space available, you will be notified of an opportunity to enroll after we receive your application. If there is not space available, your student will be placed on the waiting list, and you will be notified if/when a space becomes available.
Tours, information sessions and student visits are not available during the summer.
The following information will help guide you through the SWCS enrollment process for 2017-2018.

Applying for 2017-2018
Applications for 2017-2018 are now available on our web site. Please select the 2017-2018 school year. If you applied last year and went through the lottery, you will automatically be moved to the waiting list for the 2017-2018 school year. If you did not go through the lottery in a previous year, you must reapply for 2017-2018. The initial application deadline for 2017-2018 is February 28, 2017. Applications received before then will be entered into the lottery. Applications received after February 28 are added to our waiting lists in the order received after those who submitted before February 28.
Lottery – Saturday, March 11 @ 10am
At the lottery meeting, we will draw names randomly to fill any available spots in our classes and to form our waiting lists. Those who reside within the boundaries of the Portland Public School district will receive preference over those who reside out-of-district. The lottery meeting is a public meeting, but you are not required to be present.
After the lottery meeting, we will notify families via email within a week about their spot in the school or their rank on the waiting list. We will offer you no more than one week to make a decision about taking the spot in the school. During that time, if school is in session, you and/or your child may visit the school. As we work our way through waiting lists, we may notify you during the summer. If that happens, you will have to make the decision without a visit to the school, so please make use of the Open House and/or In-school Information Sessions described above to inform yourself about our school. Be prepared to make a quick decision! Beginning in August and through the next school year, we will shorten the time for a decision to just two weekdays.
If school is in session when you are offered a spot at the school, we can arrange for you and/or your child to visit a class. Please call the school to make these arrangements as soon as you can after you have been notified of an enrollment offer. There are no visits available during the summer, so again, please take advantage of our Open House and/or In-school Information Sessions.
Our waiting lists stay in effect through the entire school year. If we do not contact you before the start of the school year, we could offer your student a spot throughout the following school year. If you have been through the lottery and are on the waiting list, we will move your name to the list for the following school year. If you applied after the initial application deadline and have not gone through the lottery, your spot on the wait list will not carry over to the next year.
The Kindergarten class typically has the most openings, but we do not know yet how many. Siblings of existing students will fill some of the spaces. In other classes, there may be few to no spots available at the time of the lottery.
Siblings of existing students get the top priority in the enrollment process. For newly applying students, if a sibling gains a spot, we will move other siblings up on the waiting list once all enrollment forms are complete and submitted for the first student.
